每年Suffield從每個(gè)國(guó)家接收2-3名學(xué)生。今年我們有400名學(xué)生,大概90名是來(lái)自36個(gè)不同國(guó)家的國(guó)際學(xué)生。

申請(qǐng)時(shí),學(xué)生的錄取不僅僅看考試成績(jī)和等地,每個(gè)孩子都會(huì)被獨(dú)立的對(duì)待,同時(shí)學(xué)校會(huì)致力于尋求學(xué)生和學(xué)校之間的契合點(diǎn),尋找與學(xué)校互相適合的孩子。 申請(qǐng)過(guò)程要求面試(可以親自探訪學(xué)校面試也可以電話面試),附帶申請(qǐng)文書(shū)的申請(qǐng)表格,現(xiàn)在就讀學(xué)校的學(xué)術(shù)成績(jī)單,三封推薦信,以及SSAT,SAT I,或者PSAT。英語(yǔ)非母語(yǔ)的學(xué)生必須遞交托福成績(jī)。

同學(xué)你好: 是否能錄,作為中介,無(wú)法給出正確答案,但是從你的申請(qǐng)條件來(lái)看,整體背景是不錯(cuò)的。Loomis 喜歡有體育技能的學(xué)生,特別是游泳,我們?cè)袑W(xué)生因?yàn)橛斡镜奶厥獠拍鼙讳浫。粡哪愕臈l件對(duì)應(yīng)我們被 Pomfret 和 Suffield 錄取的學(xué)生,應(yīng)該是不錯(cuò)的。 加油!

如果以學(xué)術(shù)和未來(lái)走向?yàn)橹鱽?lái)看,Lake Forest, 如果地理位置St. George最好,但St. George理科并不強(qiáng)。

It is important to do independent research on each school and consider the best-fit scenario for your child considering your major factors. Deciphering opinions on school search sites will result in a variety of answers. As it relates to Math courses, Mr. Rao could not be more wrong. Only Phillips Exeter Academy has a few higher math offerings. We offer higher than Andover, and easily more than all other NE boarding schools and every private prep school in the NYC area. We currently have 60+ students now beyond AP Calculus BC. We offer College-Level Multivariable Calculus and College-Level Linear Algebra (both of which are accredited through SBU'S ACE program for dual enrollment). We also offer Advanced Mathematical Logic and, Advanced Topics in Mathematics. We have increasingly seen students specifically choose to come to SBS for our math curriculum, as we are confident in saying our math course offerings are currently among the best in the country. Advanced Topics in Mathematics originated due to students completing our math sequence, especially possible now due to summer courses through our Gravitas program. The course is co-taught by our Math Department Chair, who is also now an adjunct professor at SBU at their math chair's request, and a new faculty member who holds a PhD in rocket science and has taught mathematics and physics at the college level for many years. The course is designed to be flexible to student research and interests. As a capstone project, students will do a research project and defend their research in a "thesis defense" style forum in May, alongside our Advanced Scientific Research students (a similar new course to facilitate research in science - we have had multiple students with internships at Brookhaven National Labs and Cold Spring Harbor Labs over the past several years and this course is designed to support that initiative) and Advanced Engineering, Innovation, and Design students from the STEM department. Our students are performing at a higher level than most college juniors and seniors our teachers have taught at the university level. Here is the course description: N.170/ Advanced Topics in Mathematics Prerequisite: Linear Algebra or Multivariable Calculus and instructor’s recommendation . This course is a rigorous, college-level math course for high-achieving students of mathematics. Topics such as combinatorics, probability, real analysis, complex analysis, advanced calculus and number theory will be covered to expose students to a variety of advanced subjects. 雖然這幾所學(xué)校在Niche 排名不相上下,但其實(shí)申請(qǐng)的門(mén)檻要求還是有很大的區(qū)別的。Kent的要求是最高的,即使你有滿分的托福和99% 的SSAT,也未必能被Kent錄取。 建議學(xué)生好好看看這些學(xué)校的官網(wǎng),特別是Admission的要求,這樣會(huì)對(duì)學(xué)生有非常大的幫助。

所有提到的信息,完全可以申請(qǐng)到任何一所學(xué)校,但還要考慮GPA,孩子目前學(xué)校的Legacy,文書(shū),面試等等。

首先在擇校的時(shí)候考慮幾年以后大學(xué)的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)力的問(wèn)題是很對(duì)的,有前瞻性,不過(guò)您的顧慮的點(diǎn)稍稍地可以調(diào)整一下,從我從業(yè)十幾年的經(jīng)驗(yàn)包括每年多次參訪美國(guó)大學(xué),跟美本招辦訪談來(lái)看,其實(shí)美國(guó)的大學(xué)在選拔學(xué)生的時(shí)候,得具體看學(xué)校,比如有些大學(xué)是根據(jù)你的高中在哪上的來(lái)界定你是不是國(guó)際生,跟你是否有美國(guó)身份沒(méi)有關(guān)系,比如普利斯頓大學(xué)、芝加哥大學(xué)、哥大、康奈爾大學(xué)等學(xué)校, 普林斯頓大學(xué)明確界定了學(xué)校對(duì)于美國(guó)本土生和國(guó)際生的: Citizenship has no impact on our determination of an applicant’s status as either domestic or international. Students are considered domestic applicants if they are attending a secondary school in the United States; likewise, students attending a secondary school abroad are considered international applicants. The Office of Admission does not evaluate or advantage applicants differently based on their status as either domestic or international students.可見(jiàn)普林斯頓大學(xué)區(qū)分你是否是美國(guó)本土生其實(shí)主要是你在哪讀的高中,這其實(shí)也是為什么這些年很多學(xué)生選擇在高中階段去美國(guó)讀高中的原因之一。 康奈爾大學(xué)對(duì)于國(guó)際生的界定:Cornell reads applications based on where you currently attend school rather than by your citizenship status; we will read your application with others from your school and those from the same state (U.S.) or country. 通過(guò)這兩個(gè)學(xué)校的官方說(shuō)法,可以看出來(lái)美本招辦對(duì)于國(guó)際生的界定了,當(dāng)然不是所有的美本院校都是這樣的界定,就需要根據(jù)學(xué)校的情況來(lái)case by case 的分析了。不過(guò)您提到的“怕內(nèi)卷”的這個(gè)理念呢,其實(shí)在您列出來(lái)的這些學(xué)校里邊,不存在不內(nèi)卷的情況,其實(shí)這個(gè)“卷”的定義吧,我覺(jué)得重點(diǎn)還是回歸到是否是孩子的興趣所在,比如我在UC伯克利的學(xué)生,學(xué)的是化學(xué),每天泡實(shí)驗(yàn)室很長(zhǎng)的時(shí)間,但是他樂(lè)在其中,但是要是不喜歡化學(xué)的學(xué)生,是不是也會(huì)覺(jué)得這是“卷”呢。 所以這個(gè)我覺(jué)得您不用過(guò)多糾結(jié)“卷”的問(wèn)題,重點(diǎn)是這個(gè)高中是否跟您的孩子匹配,比如北野山中學(xué)的體育很強(qiáng),學(xué)校的C-MAP是特色,是否跟您孩子匹配?Berkshire偏理,尤其數(shù)學(xué)比較強(qiáng),是否跟孩子匹配呢?Suffield的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)力培養(yǎng)和計(jì)算器很強(qiáng),跟您孩子匹配嗎?等等,所以可見(jiàn),學(xué)校是否跟孩子匹配這個(gè)才是我們?cè)谶M(jìn)行高中擇校重點(diǎn)需要考慮的參數(shù),所以不用過(guò)于糾結(jié)“升學(xué)走向好中國(guó)人少的學(xué)校有哪些”,因?yàn)檫€有更多你需要關(guān)注的參數(shù)。 希望以上解答能夠?qū)δ兴鶐椭m樌?
