初高中閱讀書單



閱讀的力量讓我們心懷暢想、思如泉涌，引導我們思考，激發我們去創作。在初高中階段，養成良好的閱讀習慣十分關鍵。閱讀是培養語言能力和積累知識的最佳途徑，對華裔學生來說，英文閱讀尤其重要。常常有家長會問我們：暑期在家孩子應該讀什么書？有沒有適合孩子年齡段的閱讀書目可以推薦？

今年，惠宜教育再度請來波士頓著名私立寄宿高中圣馬可學校St Mark's School現任英語老師，哥倫比亞大學西方文學與歷史系博士Dr. Barnes，為8到11年級的孩子們選擇了16本最適合各年級，不同年齡階段與心理成長的書目。書籍類型囊括了真實傳記、科幻小說、歷史傳記、懸疑推理小說、現實主義小說等等，內容涵蓋了種族平等、戰爭反思、科學幻想等豐富的主題，旨在以多題材、多主題、多藝術類型的書籍，提升孩子對閱讀的興趣，在閱讀過程中加深對世界的思考，對自我的認知，同時學習、積累英語語言的運用技巧。這個暑假，讓精彩的故事和無限的想象伴孩子度過吧......

The Giver

by Lois Lowery

The Bluest Eye  

by Toni Morrison

Dr. Barnes老師簡介

Dr. Barnes 是位列寄宿前15，波士頓著名私立高中圣馬克中學（St. Mark's School）的現任在職英語與歷史老師，主要教授11年級學生的英語以及美國歷史課程。在加入圣馬克中學之前，Dr. Barnes于哥倫比亞大學獲得西方文學及歷史學博士學位，并在哥倫比亞大學教授本科新生核心課程：Literature of Humanities 。
